About your instructor - Steven Sweeney

Steven Sweeney is a business owner and father of three wonderful children. Serving in the field of Rainwater harvesting since 2006, he has designed and built many rainwater harvesting systems for both potable and non-potable water supply. He is a licensed Water Treatment Specialist, and rainwater harvesting design/ installation consultant. He launched Rainwater Academy in 2017 to fill the growing need for rainwater harvesting and water system, education, consultation/design expertise, and training.

Steven is offering 5 complimentary consultations ($125 value) to anyone affected by the hurricane and looking to implement rainwater harvesting as a solution. Some components have been donated to Rainwater Academy and will be available to those in need.

  • DAY 1

    For all those interested in learning about rainwater harvesting to increase their self reliance with water independence. And to reduce their dependance on bought water.

    Day 2

    For those that want hands on experience building a DIY rainwater system. As well as those affected by the hurricane who don’t have easy access to potable water AND have the capability to build their own small scale system

  • Day 1 Intro to Rainwater Harvesting: Attend a presentation on Rainwater Harvesting basics, focusing on how to produce safe drinking water. The presentation will be collaborative and Q and A style to ensure we address the immediate needs of the attendees, not simply giving a lecture. 

    Day 2 Hands On Rainwater Harvesting: participate in building a small off grid rainwater harvesting system aimed at producing clean safe drinking water.

  • Day 1 Intro to Rainwater Harvesting Systems: You'll learn the basic components included in a complete low maintenance rainwater harvesting system. There will be lots of Q and A for attendees to bring up their specific needs/ desires and get input from a rainwater harvesting professional of 17 years. 

    Day 2 Hands On Rainwater Harvesting Workshop: You'll get hands-on experience, or simply be able to observe, building a small, off grid rainwater harvesting system aimed at producing clean safe potable water for those that do not have access to it at their homes. 

  • While not skills are REQUIRED, it will be very helpful if you have some experience with water systems. This could be as simple as having completed plumbing repairs around the house yourself. 

  • This is a free workshop to help our local community.
